Marjorie Mae Freeman
February 25, 1923 - July 8, 2010

Marjorie Mae (Houser) Freeman, age 87, was welcomed into Heaven by her precious Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday afternoon, July 8, 2010 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Brainerd MN. She was born on February 25, 1923. She was a long time resident of Brainerd, having lived at 1212 Laurel Street for more than 50 years, Arbor Glenn for 5 years, and her remaining time at Woodland Good Samaritan.

On June 2, 1942, Marjorie married her parent’s milkman, Nestor “Toik” Freeman. They were married for 47 years, until Toik passed away in 1989.

Toik and Marge knew and loved many Brainerd residents. Toik worked for Northern Pacific (Burlington Northern) Railroad, and Marge worked for JC Penney’s in their early married years and also for twenty three years at Schaefer’s Model Market in downtown Brainerd.

Many lives have been touched because of Mom Freeman’s gift of hospitality. Her joy of cooking and baking was a continual blessing not only to her family, but to all who entered their home. You never felt like a visitor when you left, but another part of her family. She was affectionately called “Grandma Marge” by family and friends alike.

First Baptist Church has always been Marge’s church home. She first started attending when she was eleven years old. She remembered sitting on the front steps of the church when Kathy Strand invited her to come inside with her. Marge asked Jesus into her heart soon after and two years later followed the Lord in believer’s baptism. During her time at the church she loved serving as a Sunday school teacher, deaconess, helping in the kitchen with fellowships, sending out cards of encouragement, and most importantly, being a faithful prayer warrior.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Nestor Toivo Freeman, son Robbin, and sister Donna Rogerson. She is survived by son Gary (Faith), Columbus IN, son Roger (Mary), Coon Rapids MN, daughter Jan (Gary Sterner), Nisswa, MN and daughter-in-law, Faye Freeman, Marysville WA. Grandchildren: Aimee (Randy) Morris, Columbus IN, Robbin (Jennifer) Freeman, Wenatchee WA, Josh (Wendy) Larson, Nisswa MN, Keri (Toby) Wooden, Nisswa MN, Kysa (Carl) Corbett, Anoka MN, and Andy (Tricia) Freeman, Coon Rapids MN. Great grandchildren: Carson Morris, Camryn Morris, Rashelle Freeman, Ella Larson, Corbin Morris, Austin Freeman, Leif Wooden, Rex Larson, Kale Wooden, Zeke Larson, Lilija Corbett, Calah Corbett, and the 13th expected in January. She is also survived by sister Charlotta (Glenn) Dent, Brook Park MN, sisters-in-law Ann Freeman, Brainerd MN and Emma Freeman, Susanville CA, numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.
